Election Observer for SAS Nagar holds meeting with the DC and other officials

Election Observer for SAS Nagar district, Mrs Amrit Singh, IAS, Director Tourism, Punjab, today, held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and other officers to ensure free, fair and transparent elections to Local Bodies in the District.
She said that District Administration and District Police should ensure that the voters would have the right to choose their representative without fear and allurement. She said that she would ensure to take prompt action to make the election process free, fair and transparent.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain while briefing the arrangements done for the general election to the all 11 wards of Nagar Panchayat, Gharuan and bye-elections to the Ward No. 16 of MC Kharar, Ward No. 16 of the MC Naya Gaon and Ward No. 06 of MC Banur said that the district has registered a total of 64 Nomination by the last day (Dec 12) and today is scrutiny of the papers is going on. The nominations found eligible can be withdrawn tomorrow from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm while the polling to the above-mentioned Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Councils has been scheduled on Dec 21 from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The elections would be conducted by the use of Electronic Voting Machines and the results would be e anointed on the same day after the competition of polling process. The whole process of polling would be captured on Video cameras to ensure transparency, added the Deputy Commissioner.
SSP Deepak Pareek while apprising the Election Observer of the pre-poll and poll day security arrangements, said that the district police would not allow anyone to create fear or allurement among the voters. Similarly, the polling process would also be monitored minutely with ample security measures.
Election Observer emphasised that the entire election process is to be carried out fairly and there should be a level playing field for all the candidates ensuring no violation of the election code imposed by the State Election Commission, Punjab.
She appealed to the voters and candidates to maintain brotherhood and laws and order during the elections to strengthen the democracy at the lower level.
The officers who attended the meeting included ADC (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, ADC (RD) Sonam Chaudhry, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) H S Mann, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mohali Damandeep Kaur, Sub Divisional Magistrate Kharar Gurmandar Singh, Liasion Officer to Election Observer, Shivpreet Singh Executive Engineer PWD and Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar.
