Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state vice president and former MLA Arvind Khanna has criticized the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government for its poor performance in 2024. In a statement issued today, Mr. Khanna stated that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government failed to resolve any key issue throughout the year. He highlighted that unemployed youths are still protesting for jobs, while contractual workers continue to struggle for permanent employment.
He further alleged that Punjab made history for the wrong reasons, as central projects were withdrawn from the state due to the government’s incompetence. Citing an example, he said roads under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharat Mala project could not be built because the state government refused to allocate the required land. He also blamed the government’s flawed policies for industries moving out of Punjab, noting that no corrective action was taken.
Mr. Khanna remarked that the AAP government, which came to power with promises of change, faced a major setback in 2024, including a crushing defeat in local body elections. He said that the government has lost public trust within a short span of its tenure. Expressing hope for better times ahead, he wished for a prosperous and positive 2025 for Punjab and its people.
